The James H. Mason Service Award was created to recognize IAS members who have distinguished themselves through continued, dedicated, and frequently unrecognized service to the benefit of the Indiana Audubon Society and it membership. It is in this tradition that Scott Arvin represents the heart of this award.
Hopefully all IAS members are appreciative of the professional skills that seamlessly present themselves upon the arrival of the Cardinal newsletter. As the editor of our publication, the soliciting the content for its publication is one of the challenges that face Scott on a regular basis. His meticulous organization and construction of its pages generates a lovely publication that we eagerly anticipate with each issue.
As a professional graphic designer, Scott has also shared his talents with the Society by generating professional logos that now grace the IAS letterhead and the Young Birders organization within the Society.
Additionally, the phenomenal displays that represent the IAS at regional events; the brochures used to advertise our presence; were also designed by Scott.
Scott represents the second generation of the Arvin legacy with the IAS. His father, Delano, is a past President of IAS and continues to support the IAS with photographic skills that Scott is privileged to access. We are fortunate to have his family active among us and his promotion of education in the natural world is wonderful as demonstrated in his children’s enthusiasms.
These are some of the aspects of Scott Arvin that have moved us to nominate, and have the privilege to award him with, the James H. Mason Service Award for the Indiana Audubon Society.
