The Indiana Audubon Society is involved in numerous activities throughout the year. Through these activities, the Society aims to fulfill its mission to stimulate interest in birds and their protection; to serve the needs of youth, schools, civic, church and other groups by providing information concerning birds; and to educate the public concerning the necessity for conserving and preserving Indiana's natural heritage, its flora and fauna.

The Indiana Audubon Society is pleased to host it's annual Fall Festival in the far reaches of southern Indiana.  Here, preserves host dark, tea-colored waters among bald cypress. Images more evoking of the deep south, then of Indiana!  Join us October 3-5 for the 2014 Fall Festival!  This year's keynote presentation, "Wind Energy Development and Birds: Are they Compatible?" by Michael Hutchins, Ph.D.  

Other activities include a varied array of field trip options to many of the Evansville areas greatest birding sites.  Visit Wesselman Woods, Somerville Mine, Eagle Slough,  as well as Kentucky's John James Audubon State Park.

You can participate in a field party for the day, or for half a day, morning or afternoon.  All-day and morning participants meet inside Hall’s Restaurant, corner of Coliseum Blvd. and Lima Rd. by 7:00 a.m.  Some of us arrive in time to have breakfast at Hall’s before 7.  Many parties depart at 7 a.m. to find owls at daybreak.  Afternoon-only participants will join their parties at lunch at a time and location designated by each party leader.  Be sure to dress for the weather, including waterproof, warm boots for wet or snowy conditions.  Pack a thermos and snacks. Some parties may need to bring a sack lunch. A CHILI SUPPER follows the count at 6 PM at a new location: the Learning Center at Salomon Farm Park.
