Members: For those who may plan a trip to Oregon some day: The East Cascades Audubon Society is excited to announce the completion of their state-wide birding site guide. This guide directs birders to over 1000 birding locations throughout the state. Each location contains the following information: DeLorme Map information, geographic coordinates for those of you who use GPS technology, a Google Map which allows the viewer to zoom in and out for maximum ease of viewing, a Google Earth link that will give you a satellite view of the site (you can zoom in and out with this tool as well), detailed written instructions on how to get to each site, and a description of what kind of birding you might experience once you locate the site. In addition, many sites have added links to resources like bird lists, site brochures, or alternative activities which are site specific. All sites are grouped by county. A state map is provided and access to each county is achieved by clicking on the map

Other Hello! Our song bird population in Carmel is being depleted by both red tail hawks and coopers hawks that are now living in our neighborhood. Is there any way to discourage the hawks so that bird feeders do not become a death sentence to the song birds? Thanks, John MacBain Submitted By: John MacBain

Members: To Our Birding Friends, Here in Grayling at the AuSable Valley Ramada Inn & Conference Center, we are located in a unique location. We live among the Kirtland Warbler, which is one of the rarest members of the wood warbler (Parulidae) family. This is the only place on Earth The Kirtland Warbler nests. We are offering a discount to Birding Groups who are interesting in viewing Our Bird. Starting May 15th and ending July 4th at 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM, tours are conducted from our facility daily. The tour is Free to all. Simply meet at the Maple Room within the Hotel and follow the guide to the birding area. On May 15th to kick-off the Kirtland Warbler Season there is a festival on the grounds of The Kirtland Community College only $5.00 to enter. The Hotel is not associated with the tour guide in anyway we simply provide a meeting place to the birding area. It would be appreciated if you would post this information on any message boards you m

Members: The Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville has a new interactive bird checklist on its web site. It includes a list of every species documented (over 270) with their frequency by season. Many birds have links to photographs taken by area birders.
